Injury

03 May 2014

Yesterday I had my first proper circus injury; a vola plate fracture, otherwise known as a broken finger! Its a pretty common circus and acrobatics injury as it happens when the finger is hyperextended on impact, in my case the impact of my hand under my face as I fell squarely on my head from the trapeze!

There was a mat (safety first!) but since I landed pretty much on top of my head I was initially more worried about my neck, but when after a few minuets it felt fine, I carried on my lesson. It wasn’t until after it was finished I noticed my had was going black!

Its not a particularly serious injury, and there are some people on the course who have unfortunately hurt themselves much more severely, but it is still a reminder that this can be dangerous work! description
